Banyo District Hospital : 457 deliveries carried out in 2023
These figures were made public by Doctor Njinyam Nelson Fuh, director of this hospital training. Figures which reflect the quality of care for pregnant women in this health facility.
“We are fortunate to have a dynamic team in this hospital who does everything possible to ensure better monitoring of pregnant women. During childbirth, the same seriousness is observed. This means that our women have more confidence in going to this hospital,” declares Célestin, a father whose wife always gives birth in this hospital. Like him, many people questioned about the quality of service in this hospital are unanimous. They trust their hospital and its staff. “At Banyo District Hospital, the team works 24 hours a day to satisfy patients. I have never had any problems or been adequately taken care of. The team must continue in this vein,” says Ms. Mofor, mother of 4 children, all of whom were given birth in this health facility.
According to the hospital director, rolling stock is made available to the population for the transport of women in labor and other patients, from home to the hospital where the team is available to care for the woman. in labor until delivery whether simple or by cesarean section. “We have 2 ambulances, one offered by the Ministry of Health and the other, a donation from the Democratic Rally of the Cameroonian People (RDPC), 2 motorcycles, one of which is functional. With this equipment, we deploy on the ground to transport not only pregnant women, but also other patients,” indicates Doctor Njinyam Nelson Fuh, director of this hospital.
In addition to the work of midwives, the neonatology department has 4 incubators for the care of premature babies and low birth weights. Here, according to the major, Tassah Germaine indicates that “The recovery rate of premature and low birth weight babies exceeds 80%”. And the director added, “To ensure good care of babies, we have a team available and ready to intervene. If there are children who need to be sent to the incubators, we make sure the generator has enough fuel. In the event of a power outage, we switch to this energy source.”
Apart from the 457 deliveries carried out in the health facility, 13 deliveries were recorded in the community. Data analysis gives an average of 38 deliveries per month at the Banyo District Hospital and one delivery in the community.
