Murder : Journalist shot to death

His death has prolonged
the mourning in the Cameroonian media world. Journalist Anye Nde Nsoh was shot dead on May 7 in Ntarikon, Bamenda 2nd district, Mezam department. In this regard, the National Executive Board of the National Union of Journalists of Cameroon (Ben/Snjc) issued a note yesterday, May 8, not only to denounce this horrible act and offer its condolences to the nuclear family of the journalist but also to call on the public authorities
to mobilise the necessary efforts so that the “masterminds and perpetrators of this odious crime are hunted down, judged and punished without delay,” wrote the President of the Snjc, Marion Obam. In the same vein of compassion, the prefect of the Mezam, in the North West also condemned this barbaric act in a statement yesterday. In this release, the senior civil administrator, Simon Emile Mooh, announced the opening of an investigation to shed light on this tragic tragedy.
For the moment, nothing is known about the exact identity of the killers. However, an armed group is claiming responsibility for the assassination, stressing that it was a mistake. In addition, the Snjc note indicates that the former correspondent of the newspaper “The Advocate News Paper” was killed in an unreported crossfire in the area where the newspaper was located. It should be noted that this tragic disappearance of journalist Anye Nsoh comes only four days after the celebration of World Press Freedom Day, when Cameroon commemorated the event under the theme: “Shaping a Future of Rights: Freedom of Expression, Keystone of Human Rights”. Cases of assassinations The death of Anye Nde Nsoh is the third case of journalists murdered in Cameroon since the beginning of the year.
