Obituary : Jacques Mouliong broke his microphone

On his way back from a media coverage in the South West, on May 3, 2023, the day of the celebration of the World Press Freedom Day, the vehicle carrying the journalists, including the correspondent of Equinoxe TV, fell to his death in Bangem, Kupe Manengouba Department.

The journalist, correspondent of the television channel Equinoxe TV in the Moungo region, died on May 3, 2023, the day of the celebration
of freedom of the press. Jacques Moulong, better known under the pseudonym Jacquinot Moulong, who was returning from covering the first visit of the Regional Delegate for Basic Education in the South West, lost his life following
a traffic accident in the vehicle that was carrying him and other journalists. The driver died on the spot. As for the journalist, he died on the way to the hospital. Many of the injured, including journalists and cameramen, are currently being treated, as recommended by the Prefect of this Department.
The most complex cases have been transported to the Buea Regional Hospital for further treatment. An investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of this tragic accident; as for the journalist’s body, it has been deposited at the Loum municipal morgue. The 30th edition of Press Freedom Day in Cameroon closed under this grey background. However, at the time of writing and publication of this article, the Minister
of Communication has not yet made a statement to better inform public opinion on the causes of this accident which mainly involves communication actors, on the day of the commemoration of the day dedicated to them.
