Comité National de Lutte contre le Sida : Dr FOKAM Joseph and Dr ZEH MEKA Albert take the reins
The handover ceremony between the new and former Permanent and Deputy Permanent Secretaries of the Comité National de Lutte contre le Sida (CNLS) took place on Friday, March 20, 2024, in an atmosphere of solemnity and enthusiasm.

Dr FOKAM Joseph and Dr ZEH MEKA Albert were appointed to these respective positions by the Minister of Public Health, Dr MANAOUDA Malachie, in decisions signed on March 18, 2024. The ceremony, presided over by the team consisting of Jean Jacques ANDJONGO, Director of Human Resources, and Mme BOUBA HAMAN Joelle, Director of Financial Resources and Assets, highlighted the crucial importance of the fight against HIV/AIDS in the context of the implementation of University Health Coverage (UHC) in Cameroon.
The newly promoted staff were urged to take up the many challenges ahead, including: strengthening coordination and collaboration between the various players involved in the fight against AIDS; improving the mobilization of financial and human resources; increasing access to prevention, treatment and care services for people living with HIV; and combating stigmatization and discrimination against people affected by HIV.
The outgoing Permanent and Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Dr Hadja CHERIF and Dr AJEH Rogers, gave a satisfactory account of their time at the CNLS. They expressed their gratitude to the hierarchy for the trust placed in them, and wished their successors every success.
Dr FOKAM Joseph and Dr ZEH MEKA Albert, for their part, expressed their commitment to continuing the fight against AIDS with dedication and self-sacrifice. They promised to work tirelessly to achieve the objectives set by the Cameroonian government, in close collaboration with all partners.
This handover marks the beginning of a new chapter in the fight against AIDS in Cameroon. The involvement and collaboration of all players will be decisive in meeting the challenges and achieving the goal of an AIDS-free generation.
