Yaoundé Military Hospital : Surgery campaign launched

Several doctors from foreign countries and national doctors are at work since May 4, 2023, at the Yaounde Military Hospital as part of the humanitarian week; where during 09 days, the teams will operate on a little more than 1000 patients, from the 10 regions.

From May 4 to 16, 2023, the teams of the American foundation R.E.S.TO.R.E world wide of the doctor; Dr. Michael K. Obeng, a renowned plastic surgeon who practices at the Miko surgery center of Beverly Hills, California in collaboration with the association ASAF Cameroon.
The team is made up of anaesthetists, nurses, orderlies and surgical technicians from seven countries including the United States, France, Mali and Ghana. Since Friday, May 4, 2023, nearly 20 people (adults, children …) are operated without paying a penny for their care (transport, nutrition, medical monitoring …), “from the consultation booklet to drugs and intake are free,” said Colonel Hamadou, Chief Medical Officer, Director of the military hospital. It should be noted that the Cameroonian side has begun operations, awaiting the arrival of the foreign team. The diseases treated are congenital anomalies of the limbs, congenital craniofacial anomalies, anomalies of mammary development, acquired deformities
of the face, head and neck, ectropion, neck contractures for example: Post-burns; traumatic contractures of any part of the body, soft tissue tumours, leg ulcers (in the healing phase or ready for skin grafting…) and many other deformities are currently treated. Doctor Dembélé, a plastic
surgeon from Mali, confides that he has seen nearly thirty patients to date. Let’s note that the records show that nearly 1,000 patients from the 10 regions of Cameroon, with various pathologies are being treated free of charge until May 16, 2023.
