Distinction : Dr MANAOUDA Malachie is made Commander of the Sovereign Order of Malta.
The honor was given to him by H.E.M Jean Christophe HEIDSIECK, Ambassador of the Sovereign and Military Order of Malta in Cameroon, on the morning of January 11, 2024, in the Minsanté conference room.
The decision comes following the meeting which took place on October 12, 2023 in Malta. Session during which the Sovereign Grand Master and his Council decided to offer the Commander’s Cross to the Minister of Public Health, because of his very active involvement in the health activities of this State.
Among these is the annual State subsidy granted from 2023 to the St Jean de Malte hospital and the Csi of Mokolo, as part of their notable participation in multiple public health campaigns: vaccination, fight against cholera and many others. Furthermore, note the inauguration of an ultra-modern maternity ward in the Mokolo CSI under C2D financing. This is a center that could be transformed into a District Medical Center, thanks to its raised technical platform.
In receiving this distinction, Dr. MANAOUDA Malachie first said he was honored by this mark of recognition, and subsequently reassured the Order of his availability to continue this relationship. In addition, the promised grant will be available, as well as other new grants, to support the saving work that the Order brings to Cameroon, he declared.
Present in Cameroon since 1996, the achievements of the State of Malta are numerous. Among others, the Bafia leper colony in Mbam, the Mokolo maternity leper colony health center in the Far North (created more than fifty years ago), the pediatric oncology center within the Chantal BIYA Foundation (for 24 years) and the St Jean de Malte hospital in Njombé, which has existed for 24 years. This last center is one of the largest achievements with a capacity of 130 beds, 260 staff including 20 doctors and trainees. It has a quality technical platform which gives this hospital the status of District hospital. Its performance shows 12,000 admissions per year, including 7,000 in emergencies, 12,100 deliveries, 45,000 laboratory examinations, 2,000 surgical interventions, including 100 in emergencies. At the same time, the mother-child center, the laboratory, the emergency service, the extension of pediatrics, and also the launch of first aid training were carried out. All these new achievements are being inaugurated.
