The organising committee
of the Cameroon Health Leadership Award (CHLA) held a meeting on 20 April 2023 at the conference room of the Chantal
Biya International Reference Centre in Yaounde. During the consultations between the promoter
of the event, Joseph Mbeng Mboum and his collaborators,
several points were discussed. Thus, to correct the shortcomings of the previous edition, all members of the executive
committee reacted, each according to his point of view, on what did not promote the total success of the previous edition. For example, the delay in the publication of the results, the logistics and the respect of the protocol of the ceremony are some of the problems that the committee wishes to improve in order to improve the image of the next season.
The good news from this first preparatory
meeting is “the launch of the first edition of the African Leadership Award”. This other award ceremony will be coupled with season 6 of the Cameroon Health Leadership Award. “Both events will be held from 16 to 17 November 2023. We are not yet sure of the exact location. But both ceremonies will take place in Yaounde. We are looking at the Red Cross hall and the Palais des Congrès,” said the promoter
of the Pals and Plsc, Joseph Mbeng Mboum. Also, the issue of government coordination of the two events required a lot of reflection during the meeting. “We are going to ask the World Health Organisation/Africa to sponsor the two events. And we hope that the activity will be placed under the high patronage of the Head of Government,” he added.
Preparations
In the coming days, this team intends
to set up a scientific committee
that will involve experts from Cameroon, Central Africa and the Diaspora. They will be in charge of evaluating the various nominees in the different categories
that will be decided for the two Awards. In the meantime,
several other meetings will be organised to mature the reflections on the activities that will fill the days of November 16 and 17. At least, the executive has agreed to meet in a fortnight’
time. This other meeting will focus on the adoption of the different commissions and their members who will work in teams to facilitate the preparations of the two events which are expected
to be grandiose.
